First Aid Course

Yesterday we had a person from Saint Johns hospital to teach us first aid we had the session from 1:40 till 3:00(end of school) the man taught us 2 different types of first aid How to plug a cut, and How to rescue an unconscious person.The man could rescue an unconscious person in 31 seconds! that's really quick and very fast. I really enjoyed the experience and enjoyed the course.

Know I can help a person in need of medical support and I got really good feedback from the man when I tied the bandage around the hand he said I could work with hospital anytime I FELT SO PROUD!!!

Today we are going to the secondary school at 12:00 today! the day has come to cut the wood so I thought I could document it.Normally we would go straight away to the secondary but today is quite different,because of today we have a first aid course so there are not a lot of workshops my first aid is at 1:40 pm to 3:00 pm so I will miss PE today.Anyway back onto project work, Darroch(who is in my group) says that after cutting the wood we will varnish it to make it clean and polished.Sounds like my group is going to be quite busy today with project work and everything else they may have planned in.

First day of a new week.Not many people in our group some might be sick or away (Troye and so on).It turns out our projects are due this FRIDAY!! I didn't know about that until this morning so that means that we have 4 days to complete the project! that's not far away but we can't cut the handles out till this wednesday so that means when wednesday arrives we have 1 day!(we didn't plan when the lapdesks we going to be finished, but there were tonnes of unexpected changes that happened).The girls are still sewing the pillows so they are kind of ready now all we need is the wood to be cut and varnished then we can attach them or what ever so then they will be ready when friday arrives..(hopefully).

With the lack of people working on varnishing the lapdesks or what ever, the lapdesks might be ready if not we will need a extra day or two. I just really hope the lapdesks are ready by then.

Ok, I  just got told the news yesterday:We couldn't go to the secondary school! Why might you ask? it's because Martin(Teaches woodwork) doubled his skedule and had a meeting so we have to do it next Wednesday! So we have to wait 7 days to use it(I technically forgot to post it on Wednesday so I posted it today(Thursday)so we have to wait 6 instead).

This week we are going to the secondary school to work on our project.I have estimated wrong we have a couple more weeks to work on our project.Phew! I thought we had to get it done last week! but..luckily we have a few more weeks(About 2 weeks).And when I mean this week I mean tomorrow!!(Wednesday to be more specific).Anyways I'm glad that we have tonnes more time to work on our project(Hopefully) :) .I hope our group can productively collaborate with each other and get off topic(Perhaps)...Although we probably will tend to get off topic and talk about random stuff.

Today we are going to sew some more pillows.But next week we get to go over to the secondary school to use the wood work.So far our project is going very well our group is very busy with work so occasionally get off task but then we get back on task.

Today We are sewing some pillows for the lap desks so it's comfier to use. Today we might start cutting handles for the lap desks so that people can pick them up we are getting there and will start producing more.

T3 Project Reflection/ Documentation post

So far our project is going well,we've just got the wood and today we are sanding it and we will start cutting out the handles for the lap desks. We have also got the fabric and have started making the pillows we've got the dimensions right so far we are busy working on E-mailing people and doing some surveys on the amount people would like for the commons. The group has split into different  parts: Pillows and Woodwork.The girls are working on the pillows and boys are working on the desk part of the product.

Although we are doing well we sometimes do get distracted and start doing random things and sometimes they are quite silly but were managing our behavior and we have made great progress hence why we are sanding the wood.With about 3 days left until our projects are due the least, we can do is work hard to meet the deadline.

9/8/2016 Documentation post

Today we went to the secondary school to look at the woodwork room and the tools they had. We had to drive to the secondary because it was only a few of our group. When we arrived we got out the car and started walking to the entrance. When we reached the entry we had to fill out our names on a sticky note in case of evacuation. The woodwork room was on the far side of the building so we had to go past several rooms for each subject (for example Building our Culture, Technologie).

We arrived at the woodwork room in haste, but we arrived and got to see the equipment.And get to look around.

We surveyed LC4 to see they wanted lap desks 82.8% people would like lap desks.

Passion Project:Quarter Pipe

This immersion we decided to build a mini quarter pipe for PE we had a really short meeting o discus the materials we need for the project it would be about $100 for all of the materials.

List of Materials:

♠   1 - 4×8, 3/8" plywood

♠   1 - 4×8, 3/4" plywood

♠   1 - 4×8, 1/4" masonite

♠   6 - 2×4's, 8' long

♠   1 - 1' × 4', 3/16" steel

♠   1 - 2 3/8" × 4' steel pipe

♠   1 - 1lb box of 1 5/8" screws

♠   1 - 1lb box of 2 1/2" screws

The website said it would be about 4 by 2 so for everyone to fit on we will need about 4 or 6 of them combined.

Completed Division

Yesterday I completed  T2 Wk 6 Division+ it was harder than most test of division out of all of the division tests I have had over the last couple of years of school

Science Fair Project Documented Process

The first part of the experiment was to make a presentation for the information to be put in. I had to gather the info and put into my own words. I used different websites to find information about the project. Making the presentation was probably the hardest part of the project.

The second part was to gather the equipment and materials for the experiment. The materials were all easy to gather, the materials were the sodas,the mentos, the bicarbonate soda and vinegar. We needed some measuring cups to know the exact amount of soda we were pouring in the cups.

The third part was to set everything up and start the video.We put 400ml of soda into the measuring cups, we used 5 mentos in each soda and we poured 500ml of vinegar into a measuring cup.The order of the video was going to be vinegar and bicarbonate soda then the soda and mentos experiments.

After filming the video I learnt the main cause of the soda and mentos was called nucleation. The surface of the mentos is pitted and every pit releases CO2 air bubbles. The process is quite quick so it creates a drink fountain explosion!!!!

Science fair project

This science fair I chose to do Which soda will give the highest reaction to mints/how things fizz this year I was at a new school so I thought of something easy so basically I did some research and I found out the the surface of the mentos is really pores and it holds more nucleation site for the reaction to occur.
